Fire Fighter Survival

This evolution gets back to the basics for firefighter survival and rescue techniques—techniques that have proven to be effective and save firefighters’ lives. Featured stations include the John Nance drill, second-floor window rescue, stairwell rescue, Denver rescue, room orientation, ladder bail, personal rope escape, and wall breach. Students will become aware of the dangers they may face when operating inside a burning building and will learn several skills they can use to save themselves should conditions deteriorate.

Team Search and Search Rope procedures

Team search is a proven life-saving method essential for firefighter safety while searching in RIT situations as well as for the effective, safe, and thorough search of structures found in every community when normal search techniques are inadequate. Students are introduced to a methodical way to search large complex and wide-open areas safely and efficiently using ropes. They have an opportunity to perform their newly acquired team search skills and build teamwork, discipline, and confidence while operating safely and efficiently. Special emphasis is on rapid intervention and locating missing firefighters along with the basic skills involved in rope search
